Herndon Olympics & Clinic
June 26th
This year, the Herndon Olympics will be held on Friday, July 8th at Kingston Chase. Please reply to Kathryn Adams by WEDNESDAY, June 29th at [email protected] if any of your swimmers are not available or not interested in swimming in the Olympics on Friday July 8. If you are unfamiliar with Herndon Olympics, please see the description below. This event does not apply to swimmers 6 and under.
In connection with Herndon Olympics, The Mutual of Omaha Breakout Clinic will be on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 2 to 6pm at Kingston Chase and the cost is $50 per swimmer. The clinicians will be Josh Davis and Lacey Nymeyer. A spaghetti dinner will be served to all participants. The feedback from last year was very positive. The event includes swim instruction by Olympians and motivational talks. Each team has 7 slots. Email Kathryn Adams at [email protected] if you would like one of our slots. Please see the link below for additional information. If the link does not work, you can find the flyer in the LINKs section of the home Page. You do not need to be participating in Herndon Olympics to sign-up for the clinic.
Olympic Details
The Herndon Olympics is a very large meet held at Kingston Chase pool in Herndon and includes Herndon swim teams from our league and other leagues in Herndon. It's an all day event with a great competitive atmosphere. They hold a medal ceremony for each event; really giving the feel of the Olympics.
Each swimmer is limited to 2 individual events and a relay. Please understand that the selection is driven by swimmer times, but the coaches have other considerations that are not always obvious when picking the swimmers, like availability, and event restrictions.
The event starts at 10am and warm ups start at 8am. There are so many teams, it takes a while to get through warm ups! The event is likely to end somewhere between 4 and 6.

Like all our other meets, the meet's success depends on volunteers. So please realize that our team is expected to provide our share of volunteers. Of course only those families with swimmers in the event will be asked to volunteer.
We hope to publish the list of Olympians on Friday 7/1.
