Volunteers
Volunteers should check-in at the volunteer table in the parking lot outside the pool area (except for those designated as swim area managers). I'm still waiting to hear back from the organizers about details regarding volunteering. I'm expecting that they will assign people to the 1st or 2nd half, if it is not already noted below. I'll follow up when I know more. I haven't gotten confirmation from all the families below that they will be at the Olympics, so there could be some changes.
4 timers (2 per half) - 1st Half - Bradley, Fiero; 2nd Half - Velasquez, Koch
1 awards person- Adams/Lacher
1 stroke and turn - Smith
2 clerks - 1st half -Kim; 2nd half - Babka
1 runner - AbouSamra
1 relay take-off judge - Alvarado
1 marshall - Pirnazar
4 team area manager - 1st Half - Bennett, Burch 2nd Half - Ray, ???
What to bring
We'll have tents up to shade our team area. Bring goggles, 2 towels, swimcap, chairs for the team area, food, plenty of drinks, money, activities to keep busy while waiting (there will be plenty of waiting), bug spray, sunscreen.
Medals and ribbons
I haven't heard which places will get medals and which get ribbons. It's best to set your swimmers' expectations and let them know that they may not have a ribbon for all places.
Differences compared to other meets
In our league, swimmers get 2 false starts and they are disqualified if they false start a 3rd time. In the Olympics, swimmers are disqualified after one false start - they don't get a second chance. So warn your swimmer that it is better to hesitate than get off early.
The whistle technique used for starts will be different than the swimmers are used to. Swimmers should see the coaches for details.
Meet Sheet
When I have a final meet sheet, or list of events by swimmer, I'll post it under Important Links on the website.
