Upcoming Events and Important Information
All,
Thanks for your patience and understanding with the weather and delays/cancellation last night. It's been an extermely weird season with the weather so far this year.
I wanted to share a number of important pieces of information as we head toward the close of the 2013 Swim Season.
Relay Carnival - this Wednesday, July 17th
This is a fun, laid back event. This is a Four Seasons only swim meet and features all relay, most with some some fun and entertaining themes. A good portion of the events also offer an opportunity for the parents to get involved in the races. If you will be able to attend, please RSVP so that we have a good headcount for concessions and attendance/volunteer purposes. Both the concessions and volunteer requirements will be minimal so all that want to participate can do so, but it is important that we have some volunteers to support the meet.
Also slightly different is the events and the participation in those events. We need folks to sign-up for the events that they're interested in participating in. There were sign-up sheets posted at during the meet last night and I will have paper versions of those available at Saturday's meet at Bradley Farms, so please see me if you would like to sign-up. The event descriptions as well as a Sign-Up Genius link to sign-up online are available on the website. You can access those items by going to the Links section of the website, or you can access the sign-up link with the following link: www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0D48A8AA2AA64-relay
Next Meet - Saturday, July 13th at Bradley Farms
Our next meet is this Saturday, July 13th against Bradley Farms. If you have not RSVP'ed or volunteered, please do so today.
Champs and All Stars Meet - Saturday, July 20th
This is our final meet for the season and is a large, all day event featuring all teams from the Herndon Swim League. This is much different in how the meet is supported. The only volunteer role we provide is concessions support. All other functions, with the exception of some Stroke and Turn Judges, is provided by the other teams. We run concessions support in three shifts, so please RSVP so the coaches know the availability of your swimmers and please volunteer for one of the concessions shifts.
End of Season Banquet
To wrap-up the season, we will host our End of Season Banquet at the Four Seasons Pool at 6 pm on Sunday, July 21st. The pool will be open for the swimmers to swim. We will have a great buffet dinner provided by our sponsor, California Tortilla. The swimmers meal is provided at no cost and tickets for adults and siblings 7 & up will be $9 per person. Additional information will be coming out shortly, and Kathryn Adams and Lisa Goldman are assisting with planning. If you are planning to attend, please RSVP on the calendar entry so that we can get an accurate head count.
Additionally there will be award presentations for all swimmers featuring the "World Famous" Paper Plate Awards, and this is a fun way to wrap-up the season.
Volunteer Roles for Next Season
As we start to wrap-up this season, the early planning for next season is also beginning. As such, there are a number of roles that need to be considered, particuarily the Board roles for next season. There is an Early Volunteer Sheet for 2014 posted in the Links section of the website. On that document are a number of positions that need to be considered, including all of the Board of Director positions. A number of the current Board Members have mentioned that they're not returning next season, so if you would like to join the Board, please take a look at that document and sign-up for the position(s) that may be of interest to you.
Thanks as always for all of your patience and support!!!
Kevin
