Reminder of team commitment obligation
Parents,
I am our team's representative on the Herndon Swim League board. As some of you may know at least one local team cannot open their pool this season and therefore we may see some of their team members join us. Last year some teams changed their stance on out-of-neighborhood team members for legal reasons and that may also stimulate more people to approach us.
It's therefore worth us reiterating the obligation swim team membership brings - team members are expected to participate in practices and to the best of their ability participate in as many swim meets as possible. Team membership cannot be solely for the purpose of obtaining pool membership and/or swimming lessons. There are other ways to obtain Four Seasons pool membership and/or lessons - the Four Seasons Recreation association can be approached if people are solely interested in these.
Swim Team is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a team and to compete in a supportive and welcoming environment. We are looking forward to a wonderful season and hopefully some fun and games again. But at the end of the day we must ask that team members participate in practices and swim meets to the extent practical. It has always been this way in spirit but with more people potentially interested in joining we felt we needed to re-iterate things for clarity.
We have updated the registration form to make the participation obligations clearer. If anyone has questions related to this don't hesitate to reach out to me or another team board member.
Thanks, Jeremy.
PS: I am also the team Referee - if anyone has any interest in or willingness to be a Stroke and Turn judge please let me know. We are always looking for Stroke and Turn judges, Starters and Referees. If I can do it anyone can...
