We NEED you for the 2017 Season

Just 2 weeks left in the summer swim team season! Hopefully the kids are enjoying the meets and other events scheduled this season. And hopefully you and the kids have enjoyed meeting new families and maybe seeing some families that you only see during the swim season.

Because so many of you have pitched in, the team has managed to smoothly host 2 home meets and several social events so far. Additionally, we’ve recruited sponsors, held a fundraising night at Chick-fil-a, and run the concessions stand during meets, all in an effort to keep fees from going too high, while still offering fun events, t-shirts, donuts and medals to each swimmer.

All this happened while the team was run by a skeleton size board this season. You probably don’t realize what a handful of people have done to ensure the team traditions continue, in spite of missing the parent commitment necessary to do this during a normal season. Say Thank you to Julie and Steve Spizuoco for getting the season started and to those that played key roles in keeping this season going:

Leann Swisher, Mauricio and Kelly Velasquez, Melissa Wilkinson, Kara and Buzz Rider, Ana Graef-Jones.

There will only be a Four Seasons swim team next year if more parents step-up to hold all the board positions by the end of THIS SEASON for next season. Current boards members cannot be expected to plan and run the team without more support from more of the parents. This is our team and everyone needs to help. Because the summer swim season is so short and intense, planning needs to happen throughout the off-season. Several board members have already agreed to return and now they need you to help share the load and responsibility. Please keep in mind what the swim team has done for your family and thoughtfully consider how you will help the team next season (85% or you will return). Sharing positions is helpful to allow for coverage during vacations, and there’s always safety in numbers.  Each family’s situation is unique, but there is a way everyone can help.  Many hands make light work smiley. Please contact Diane Smith at [email protected] for more information about these positions or how you can best help.

How does this impact me?: One example - A concessions chairperson helps ensure we can open the concession stand and generate enough revenue to keep fees from going up about $20-$30 per swimmer next year.
